I have a Widal test report. TO is 1:160 positive, TH is negative, AH is negative, and BH is negative. I took Ciprobid 500 mg tablet twice a day for 10 days. The doctor asked me to stop the tablets for seven days and get the report again, saying it may become negative. Is this possible? I need to submit a negative report for my foreign employment as a hotelier. My physician said it is impossible and that TO can remain the same without any rise for a long time.

TO 1:160 is borderline. After antibiotics, titre may remain positive for months. It is hard to turn negative quickly. Repeat test may help but not always reliable for clearance proof.

My Widal test report from two weeks ago shows S. Typhi O at 1:160 and S. Typhi H at 1:320. I am a 34 year old male and would like to know if this indicates typhoid.
