My dad is 85 years old. He has been complaining that after passing urine, he does not feel comfortable and shivers afterward. His report shows serum creatinine 1.2 mg/dl. His kidneys are normal, and the bladder has a 3.3 cm faceted mobile stone. Premicturition volume is 194 cc, and postmicturition volume is nil. His prostate is 37 gm. Kindly advise? Thank you.

A 3.3 cm bladder stone can irritate the bladder and cause discomfort or shivering post-urination. Prostate size (37 gm) is mildly enlarged, may contribute to urinary symptoms. No post void residual urine is a good sign (no retention). Shivering could be due to urinary tract irritation or low grade infection. Consult a urologist to assess need for surgical removal or medical management.

Left kidney shows mild hydronephrosis. A calculus measuring 17.5 mm is noted at the left pelvi ureteric junction. Right kidney shows a non obstructing calculus measuring 8.6 mm in the lower pole calyx. Polycystic pattern is seen in both ovaries. Urine report shows albumin (+), pus cells 25 to 30, RBC 25 to 30, crystals calcium oxalate, epithelial cells 8 to 10. I am taking Berberis vulgaris, Pareira brava, and Clearstone. Please prescribe some good medicines to cure this condition.
