My father tested COVID 19 positive on 26 July (sample taken on 23 July). After home isolation and treatment, he was retested on 12 August, and the report came today (13 August). The interpretation says 2019 nCoV negative, but I am confused about the MS2 gene detected part. Is he still contagious? Does he need to continue home isolation for a few more days?

MS2 gene detected refers to internal control, not COVID positivity. It is done to ensure accuracy by detecting any technical failures. Since COVID gene is negative, he is not contagious and no further isolation is needed if symptoms have resolved.
