My mother is 60 years old and has been taking Eltroxin 75 mcg for the past two months, as her TSH was 5.00 at that time. Prior to that, she had been taking Eltroxin 50 mcg for the last ten years. She recently had a thyroid test and the results are: T3: 0.90 ng/mL T4: 9.30 microgram/dL TSH: 16.23 mIU/L I do not understand why her TSH has increased so significantly despite taking her medication regularly.
