My wife died because of tuberculosis and because of that one of the doctors started treatment for TB with INH saying that there is a possibility my baby might have got some germs of tuberculosis. However, according to the results of the Montoux test, CBC report, chest X ray, and TB gold test, my baby is absolutely fine. Should I take her to another doctor for a checkup or start the tuberculosis treatment, which I am aware she is not suffering from? Please help me as I know once the treatment for tuberculosis is started, the full treatment must be completed even if the problem is not there.

If all TB tests (Mantoux, CBC, CXR, TB Gold) are negative, there is no active infection. INH prophylaxis is only needed if exposure is recent or baby is immunocompromised. Discuss with pediatric TB specialist.

View allI am suffering from pleurisy tuberculosis and have been on DOTS for the last 3 months. Yesterday I did a USG thorax to check improvement which shows a 48 by 24 mm sized area of organized loculated pleural effusion with thick septa and pleural thickening at the right costophrenic angle. Is there any improvement in my report or is it something serious? I am still having mild fever of 99.3?

My father has been suffering from fever since 26 February. Medication was started, which I mentioned above, but there is no relief. Then I consulted a pulmonary doctor who told me it is an infection after seeing the X ray. One more thing, the blood test report is normal except hemoglobin, which is 11. No typhoid or malaria was diagnosed. What should I do? Kindly guide me.
