My wife has been suffering from dengue since Monday. On Tuesday, she did an NS1 test, which was positive, and her platelet count was 206,000. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, her platelet count was 151,000, 141,000, and 99,000 respectively. She looks stable day by day, and her temperature is around 99.5 degrees F (maximum) after taking Calpol 650 every 12 hours. Does she need to be admitted to the hospital? When will her platelet count improve? Her WBC count is 4000 now.

Your wifes dengue report shows a gradual drop in platelet count, which is common during the critical phase. Since shes stable, eating well, and has no bleeding, hospital admission may not be needed right now. Platelet count often starts rising after day 6 to 7. WBC count of 4000 is within dengue trends. Continue hydration and monitor for warning signs like bleeding, breathlessness, or persistent vomiting. Repeat platelet and CBC daily to track recovery.

Hello Doctor, I have been suffering from fever for the past 4 days. My recent blood report shows a platelet count of 69,000 and hemoglobin of 11.8. When I discussed the low platelet count with my doctor, he mentioned that it can sometimes be low in typhoid as well, and that the prescription would be the same even if it were dengue. My concern is that every morning I experience headache, high fever, and shivering, which is only relieved by Paracetamol. Is it normal in typhoid to have recurring fever every day along with a decreased platelet count?
