The purpose of the lipid profile test is to measure and assess if a person has any chances of heart disease. Additionally, as a routine test to determine if your cholesterol level is normal or falls into a borderline, intermediate or high-risk levels.
The normal range for cholesterol is up to 200 mg/dL. The normal range for triglycerides is less than 150 mg/dL. The normal range for HDL cholesterol is between 40 - 60 mg/dL (the higher the value, the better) The normal range for LDL cholesterol is less than 100 mg/dL
