What is the importance of a blood work before an MRI scan?
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
It is important to do blood work, especially KFT to prevent kidney damage. If you have an existing kidney disease or ailment then the dye given during MRI might worsen your kidney functioning.

Two months ago, I experienced stomach pain and underwent an ultrasound scan. The report showed that the pelvicalyceal system in my left kidney is prominent, possibly due to a lower ureteric calculus (stone). The liver appears normal in size and shape, with no focal lesions or other abnormalities. After medication, my pain has reduced to minimal levels, but I want to be sure that there are no remaining stones. I am willing to consult at a good hospital for further evaluation. Please advise on how to confirm the absence of stones and what steps I should take next. Thank you.
