What is the normal range for T4 blood test?
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
The T4 blood test measures the level of thyroxine, a hormone produced by the thyroid gland, which plays a vital role in metabolism, energy regulation, and overall bodily functions. The T4 normal range for adults typically falls between 5.0 to 12.0 micrograms per deciliter (mcg/dL) for total T4 and 0.8 to 2.8 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL) for free T4. Abnormal T4 levels can indicate thyroid disorders. Higher levels may suggest hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), while lower levels may point to hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). The thyroid T4 normal range is an essential parameter for diagnosing and managing thyroid-related conditions.

My report says thyronormalcy and my fasting blood sugar is 104.8. However, I am having symptoms like weight gain, inch loss, loss of appetite, insomnia and increased thirst. I do not eat junk food, I walk daily and I am active in doing all work. Still my weight is 93 kilograms and my waist is 36 inches and still decreasing. What could this be? Kindly suggest?

I have irregular periods, and my blood report shows that my prolactin level is quite high. My gynecologist has prescribed tablets to help regulate my periods, but I am concerned about the elevated prolactin. Should this be treated separately, and what could be the reason for the high prolactin level?
