Which test is better in one month of pregnancy, UPT or HCG? Which test gives a good result in 4 to 5 weeks of pregnancy?
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
At 4 to 5 weeks of pregnancy, both UPT (urine test) and Beta HCG (blood test) can detect pregnancy. Beta HCG is more sensitive and accurate, especially if periods are irregular or UPT shows faint lines. UPT is useful for quick home checks, but blood test confirms and tracks pregnancy progress. At 5 weeks, HCG greater than 1,000 mIU/mL is typical.

View allHi, I got a positive pregnancy test, which I also confirmed with an HCG blood test. In that test, my values were 779 and 1387, taken a day apart. I am having red brown discharge with light cramps. When I went to the doctor, she suggested a hormone injection and Miprogen tablet for two weeks. Will this situation settle or is there any risk of complication? Please suggest.

I had a frozen embryo transfer on 4th July. Initially, I experienced mild period like cramps, which have now stopped, but I still have occasional mild pelvic and lower back pain. I am taking all my medications as prescribed, including Crinone 8 percent progesterone gel. Since yesterday, I have had a burning sensation while urinating. Can I take a beta HCG test now to check if I am pregnant, or should I wait a few more days? I am really worried, please advise.

I have had two early pregnancy losses last year, each within about one week. When I tested, the pregnancy tests showed a faint line, and repeated tests also gave faint results, followed by heavy bleeding. I am unable to understand the cause of this issue. All my blood tests are normal, and my husband semen analysis is also normal, although he has been taking medicines to improve semen quality. During those times, I was taking folic acid tablets, progesterone injections, and other medications. Could you please help me understand what might be causing these repeated early losses and advise how this issue can be treated or managed?
