Why are people required to fast before a blood test?

Food nutrients can interfere with the test especially in the case of fasting blood glucose hence it is advised to remain empty stomach before giving the test.

There were two HbA1c tests done one week apart. The first result was 5.6, and the second result was 5.7. If I am prediabetic, please suggest what to do next. Can it be reduced below 5.7 without prediabetic medications?

Today, I received my blood test report, and my fasting blood sugar level is 107. This is the first time my sugar level has been high; two months ago, it was only 80. I am 30 years old and have been using some hormone medications for infertility over the past two months. What tests should I get done now, and does this mean I am diabetic?
