The urine albumin test detects the presence of albumin in the urine. Normally, albumin is found in the blood and is filtered by the kidneys. A very small amount of albumin is usually passed in the urine when the kidneys are functioning normally. In case of damage to the kidney, the albumin leaks into the urine in abnormal amounts.
