Postprandial insulin test measures the insulin levels in the blood after two to three hours of food consumption. The test is used to check for diabetes. Normally after having food, the stomach digests it and glucose levels rise rapidly, in response to this the pancreas releases insulin which help in transport of glucose into the cell for production of energy.
