P-ANCA stands for Perinuclear-Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies. This test is also known as the MPO test where MPO stands for Myeloperoxidase. This test is performed via the ELISA method. This test helps to detect, diagnose, and monitor forms of systemic vasculitis. How is the blood sample taken?

When the cause of the production of red blood cells is outside the bone marrow, it is known as Secondary Polycythaemia.

What are the causes of Secondary Polycythaemia?

The causes of Secondary Polycythaemia include diseases of the heart or lungs, excessive consumption of alcohol, smoking, disease of the liver or kidney, tumors that secrete erythropoietin which leads to stimulation of the production of red blood cells, and due to rare inherited hemoglobin that doesnt release enough oxygen to the body.
