Question

I have a flap tear in the posterior horn of my lateral meniscus and also an ACL tear my ACL surgery is scheduled for next week. Do I really need surgery for the meniscus tear too, or can it heal on its own? I'm worried about having two surgeries and how that might affect recovery.

Whether you need surgery for a flap tear in the posterior horn of your lateral meniscus alongside your scheduled ACL surgery depends on the severity and type of tear, as well as your individual circumstances. While some smaller tears might heal on their own with conservative treatment, larger or more complex tears may require surgery, either at the same time as the ACL surgery or separately. The decision will be made by your orthopedic surgeon, taking into account factors like the tear's size, location, and your overall health
