Can I take antibiotics for more than 5 days if my lymph nodes are swollen, a bit tender, and painful? I'm really worried and just want to make sure I'm managing this right.

  1. Duration of Antibiotics: Amoxycillin is typically prescribed for 5 to 7 days. The exact duration depends on the infection's type and severity.

  2. Cause of Lymph Node Swelling: Antibiotics like amoxycillin are effective only for bacterial infections. Swollen lymph nodes can also result from viral infections or other causes.

  3. Safety and Monitoring: Do not extend antibiotic use beyond the prescribed duration without consulting a healthcare provider. This prevents resistance and side effects.

  4. Next Steps: Consult your healthcare provider to assess your symptoms and determine if continuing antibiotics is necessary. Seek medical attention if symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear. Always follow your doctor's instructions for safe and effective treatment.
