Can OSMF with less mouth opening be treated with surgery or other methods besides mouth exercises? What are the recovery time and success rates for these options?

Yes, Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF) with limited mouth opening can be treated with surgery and other methods besides mouth exercises. Surgical intervention is generally recommended when mouth opening is less than 25 mm.

View allI've been dealing with constant jaw and neck pain for about a year now, and I recently saw an oral surgeon who suggested I get an MRI of my TMJ. I'm a bit worried thoughis it okay to go ahead with the MRI during my menstrual period, or should I wait until it's over?

It's been 3 days since I got my left upper and lower wisdom teeth removed, but my left temple keeps hurting nonstop and I can't sleep at night. Plus, the left side of my tongue still feels numb what's going on? Is this normal or should I be worried?
It's possible your symptoms are related to a few things after wisdom tooth removal, including a dry socket, nerve damage, or inflammation. While some pain and numbness are normal after surgery, severe or persistent pain, particularly in the temple, and a numb tongue lasting more than a few days warrant a call to your dentist or oral surgeon.

I've had an oral mucous retention cyst for about a year and a half now. I ignored it at first, but now I want to get rid of it. Is surgery the only way to remove it, or are there antibiotics that can help? If I do get surgery, will the stitches dissolve on their own and how long does that usually take? Also, will there be a permanent scar after it's removed?
Oral mucous retention cysts usually require surgery for removal, as antibiotics won’t solve the problem. The stitches used during surgery are often dissolvable, and scarring can be minimal, depending on the surgery technique.
