Can you tell me if there's any risk of getting HIV from a barber who cleans the hair from a straight razor on their hand? I'm a bit worried about if the virus could survive on razors.

my relative got an HIV ELISA test before surgery and the report says cut off value is 0.1312 with non-reactive result - can you explain what this means in simple terms? are they HIV negative or is there still a risk?

A "non-reactive" result on an HIV ELISA test, especially with a low S/CO ratio like 0.1312, means the test didn't detect any significant signs of HIV infection at the time of the test. In simple terms, this usually means the person is HIV negative, but there's a small chance of a recent infection that the test hasn't yet detected.

Can you use a vacutainer needle without a safety lock on a different patient if its already been used on someone else? Also, is there a risk that the blood might clot in the needle, causing it not to work properly? What are the chances of someone getting HIV if blood is accidentally drawn with a needle that's already been used? Even if the blood is flowing out and not in, is there still a risk of HIV transmission?

kindly don't use contaminated needles or Vacutainer's and follow proper sterilized methods . Yes, there is a chance of transmission of various infections not only HIV. There are many other infections as well.
