Hello doctor, my mother is 54 years old. She is suffering from severe pain in her whole body. Blood tests show calcium 8 and vitamin D 13. She is now unable to stand or walk. She has been prescribed Shelcal 500 mg once a day and cholecalciferol vitamin D capsule once a week. Her hemoglobin is 8. She is still not getting relief from pain and weakness in the bones. What should I do so that she can stand properly? Please help.

Low calcium (8), low Vitamin D (13), and low hemoglobin (8) can cause severe body pain, weakness, and difficulty standing. Continue Shelcal daily and Vitamin D weekly as advised. Her hemoglobin is very low and needs urgent correction, add iron supplements and a diet rich in green leafy vegetables, fruits, and pulses. Ensure adequate hydration and gradual movement to prevent falls. You can book CBC, Serum Calcium, and Vitamin D tests after 6 weeks to monitor improvement. Consult your doctor for IV iron or further evaluation if weakness continues.
Dr. Yusuf Suggests...
Take a CBC Test (Complete Blood Count) Test or Take a Calcium Test Test

View allI got an attack of mouth ulcer 1 month ago with approximately 5 big ulcers. After 3 weeks the ulcers were gone but my stomach pain started and I had harder stool. The doctor gave me medicine but small ulcers happened again and went away. The doctor did a vitamin D test and it was very low at approximately 9.36. He gave me medicine and I am on medicine. I have little weakness and back pain so I thought to do one CBC test. Please check my report and tell me if it is normal or if there is anything to worry about? Please help.

I have been having lower back pain. I took MRI, which showed a mild bulge at L2, L3, and L4. My report mentions spondylitis. I already took a one-month course of calcium and vitamin D3 and also underwent acupuncture treatment, but stiffness and pain persist. I have been suffering from this severe problem for the last 4 years?

Hello Doctor. I have done a full body checkup including blood test, urine test, LFT, and vitamin D. I found my vitamin D level very low at 4.5 ng/ml. Should I go for further tests, or can you suggest some supplements? I have attached my report. One reason for low vitamin D is lack of sunlight exposure, which I will take care of now. Please suggest.
