I have been under significant stress for the past two months due to some family issues. Is it possible that stress caused my TSH to rise? Should I start the medication now, or would it be better to retest after a month to see if the TSH levels change? My cholesterol, blood pressure, and other tests are normal.

Hello doctor my wife is 7 weeks pregnant and a bit worried. Her blood report shows TSH 4.83 and free T4 12.16. TSH seems a bit high and free T4 is normal. I have attached the blood report. Are there any serious issues and does this require any treatment?

Your TSH is slightly higher than we usually like in early pregnancy. It is common and manageable, and sometimes a small dose of thyroid medicine is started to support the pregnancy better.
