Hi, my blood report includes the remark ALERT, Predominantly normocytic normochromic with macrocytes and ovalocytes. I would like to understand what this means. My report shows, Hemoglobin is 12.8 g/dL, MCV is 109.9 fL, MCH is 33.2 pg, MCHC is 30.3 g/dL, RDWSD is 59.3 fL, RDWCV is 14.4 percent. Could you please explain the significance of these findings?

Your report suggests mild anemia with enlarged red cells (macrocytes) and oval shaped cells. This pattern is often seen in B12 or folate deficiency. It is not alarming but needs further evaluation and correction. Please consult your doctor.
Dr. Hema Suggests...
Take a VITAMIN B12 AND FOLATE Test or Take a CBC Test (Complete Blood Count) Test

Although he has reduced his smoking, he has not quit completely. I am concerned whether these symptoms could be a result of long-term smoking. Kindly advise.

I have had tingling sensations in my hands and legs for the last 3 years, but I have not checked my vitamin B12. Yesterday, I took my first tablet of vitamin B12, 1500 mcg. I am planning to go for the test tomorrow. My concern is, will the tablet I took affect my test report or show any false results since I have taken it only once?
