I had titanium plate surgery for a tibia and fibula fracture 4 months ago but now my leg is swollen and red. My orthopedic surgeon recommended removing the plate. What could be causing this and is removal the only option?

Swelling and redness at the site of a titanium plate implant, four months after surgery, can indicate several possibilities, including infection, a reaction to the implant, or a problem with the bone healing process. Removal of the plate might be recommended by your surgeon, but it's not always the only solution; other options could be explored

View allI've had this metal rod in my lower leg for about 5 years now. Everything's been okay until recently, when I started feeling a constant pain near the knee where the screw is fixed. I'm considering getting the rod removed, but I'm worried about whether my leg will end up weaker after the operation and how long the recovery will take. Any advice?
The recovery time can vary depending on individual factors, but typically it takes about 6-8 weeks for the bone to fully heal after the operation. To help with the pain and promote healing, your doctor may prescribe pain medication such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Additionally, to support bone health and strength during recovery, they may recommend calcium and vitamin D supplements. It is important to follow your doctor's post-operative instructions carefully to ensure a successful recovery.

I have a mild wedge fracture at L1 and I'm not sure if I should get surgery or just stick to bed rest and physio. What's the better option for healing properly without making things worse?

Had surgery on 2.12.021 and still feeling pain at night, when will the wires come out? How long until everything gets back to normal?
Post surgery the wires needs to removed between 10-14 days after surgery If sutures are absorbable they get dissolve over time ,whereas the non -absorbable needs to be manually removed by a healthcare professional.
