I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend, after which I experienced a burning sensation while urinating and yellowish penile discharge. I got my penile discharge tested at a lab, and the report states No gonococci seen, few gram negative coccobacilli seen, and large number of pus cells seen. What does this mean? I consulted a doctor and took medication, and I have recovered, but I am still concerned because I do not understand my report. I have attached a copy of my report.

This suggests a bacterial urethritis, likely non gonococcal. Gram negative cocco bacilli may include organisms like E. coli. Large pus cells indicate active infection. Since symptoms improved with antibiotics, the infection is likely resolved, but safe sex practices and follow up STD screening are advisable.
