I have been suffering from hair fall for the past 3 months. It started suddenly. Whenever I comb my hair around 60 to 70 strands fall. For the past 3 weeks I was using minoxidil and it reduced my hair fall by 50 percent but after I stopped using minoxidil for a week my hair fall increased and became worse. My blood report is also normal. Please suggest what should I do?

Sudden hair fall can be stress related or nutritional. If Minoxidil helped, you can resume it. Ensure good diet, check iron and vitamin levels. A dermatologist can guide further.

More FERRITIN Health Queries
View allI was recently cured of chickenpox. My blood test report shows a very low serum ferritin level of 15. Sometimes I notice blood in my stool. I am also experiencing a lot of hair fall, and rashes appear on my skin daily. When I take Livogen to improve my serum ferritin, it causes skin rashes, so I am unable to improve my ferritin levels. Kindly guide me on what I should do.

I am a 23 year old male experiencing excessive hair loss for the past year. Initially, I thought it might be due to a drastic change in my diet after moving away from my hometown for work, where I was not eating very healthily. However, over time I noticed that my hair loss became more severe, my hair density reduced significantly, and at times, my scalp became visible. Concerned about this, I consulted a trichologist a month ago. After examining me, she initially suspected male pattern baldness and asked if I had a family history of baldness, which I do not. She then recommended tests including CBC, TSH, and Ferritin.

I have been experiencing significant hair loss, which has led to visible balding patches. I recently underwent hormonal testing, and all results were normal except for low serum ferritin levels. My general physician prescribed Orofer to address the iron deficiency. However, since starting Orofer, I have noticed breakouts (pimples) and irregular periods, which were not an issue before. Could you please advise.
