I have a blood test scheduled for elevated ALT liver enzyme on the 9th. I cannot take pain medications. I have come down with a bad cold and am experiencing severe sinus pressure. Can I take Pseudoephedrine, Allegra D, or Mucinex D without affecting my blood test results?

Pseudoephedrine and Mucinex D may affect ALT and liver results. Avoid these 3 to 5 days before your liver test. You can use plain Allegra (non D) after confirming with your doctor. Try steam inhalation, saline nasal spray, and hydration for relief. Repeat LFT, especially ALT, after recovery if needed. Refer to an ENT specialist for further treatment
