I hurt my knee in a bike accident 3 weeks ago and the x-ray showed a tibial spine fracture with the ACL displaced by about 3mm. I've been wearing a knee brace since then but still can't walk freely stairs are painful and I can't straighten my knee all the way. How long until this heals and do I need surgery?

It's been 4 years now, but I still get pain every 3-4 months when I lift weights or play cricket, though it goes away in 2-3 days.
