I hurt my knee in a bike accident 3 weeks ago and the x-ray showed a tibial spine fracture with the ACL displaced by about 3mm. I've been wearing a knee brace since then but still can't walk freely stairs are painful and I can't straighten my knee all the way. How long until this heals and do I need surgery?

I just got my MRI report and it shows a high grade partial thickness tear in my ACL with some retraction and a small bony avulsion near the tibial eminence. There's also mention of a chip fracture in the posterior tibial plateau with bone marrow edema. Can this heal on its own or will I need surgery? I'm really worried about the extent of the damage and what it means for recovery

My MRI shows a complete ACL tear and mild joint effusion but the doctor with 25 years of experience says there's no ACL injury just mild cartilage damage and the MRI doesn't match his clinical findings He suggested physiotherapy and a knee brace for 6 months with possible surgery only if needed Should I trust this diagnosis or get a second opinion

It's understandable to feel concerned when your MRI contradicts your doctor's assessment. While your doctor's experience is valuable, a second opinion is advisable to ensure a comprehensive understanding of your knee injury.

my mom has a hip fracture and the doctor suggested a total hip replacement she's diabetic but her sugar is under control with insulin is it safe to go ahead with surgery at her age also are there any premium prosthetic options we should consider

Controlled diabetes allows safe hip replacement if sugar and vitals are stable; premium prosthesis like ceramic or titanium are costlier but last longer with less wear.
