I went to the eye hospital just to check my power for glasses since I don't wear any and never had my eyes checked before. The doctor recommended a scan and then said I need C3R surgery for both eyes within two months. They mentioned normal power is 500 and mine is 419, with anything under 300 being critical. I'm only 24 and just wanted to check my power now I'm worried about this surgery. Should I go ahead with it or get a second opinion?

View allIs cataract surgery safe during the rainy season or is it better to wait for winter? I've heard humidity and infections might be higher in monsoon and worried about recovery. Does the weather really affect the surgery outcome or healing process?
Cataract surgery is generally safe year-round; infection control practices matter more than weather.

My mother has cataracts in both eyes and the doctor recommended surgery for her right eye soon before it gets worse. Can you help me understand how to choose between monofocal and multifocal IOLs? What are the costs for each type in India, and how long is the recovery after surgery? Also, what precautions should she take post-surgery? I'd like to know all the options available for cataract surgery and their costs.
For cataract surgery, a monofocal Intraocular Lens (IOL) provides clear vision at a single distance (usually far vision), while a multifocal IOL offers vision at multiple distances (near, intermediate, and far). Multifocal IOLs generally cost more but may reduce the need for glasses after surgery. Cataract surgery costs in India vary significantly, typically ranging from INR 25,000 to INR 1,20,000, depending on the IOL type and hospital

I live in a city where no doctors offer Contoura vision surgery, so I'd have to fly elsewhere to get it done. But I'm not sure if I'm even a good candidate for it I don't want to travel all that way just to find out I can't get the procedure. Here are my details: RE sph -1.75 cyl -1.60 axis 15 VA 20/20 LE sph -1.50 cyl -1.25 axis 7 VA 20/20 IPD 69 My eye pressure is healthy, I have very mild dry eyes (not severe), and I've been diagnosed with astigmatism and myopia. Could I possibly be a candidate for Contoura vision?
Get a pre-op screening first; if eligible, only then travel—most centers will assess your eye shape and thickness.
