I'm a 23-year-old girl and I've been having back pains that get worse when I sit for a long time, like during my tuitions. It usually only gets better if I lie down. I'm thinking about taking Shelcal 500 mg since it has calcium and vitamin D3. Do you think it's okay for me to take one tablet every day to help with the pain? What do you suggest?

Residual symptoms after typhoid fever.

Bitter taste and weakness could be due to:

  1. Residual infection
  2. Medication side effects
  3. Hormonal changes
  4. Nutritional deficiencies
  5. Liver or kidney function changes

To alleviate bitter taste:

  1. Stay hydrated
  2. Eat small, frequent meals
  3. Avoid strong-smelling foods
  4. Try sugar-free gum or lozenges
  5. Consider zinc supplements (consult doctor)

Consult your doctor for:

  1. Follow-up evaluation
  2. Addressing weakness and bitter taste
  3. Adjusting medications or diet

Recovery from typhoid fever can take time. Be patient and follow your doctor's guidance.

I had Achilles tendon repair surgery six weeks ago and just got my cast removed last week. My ankle feels really stiff so the doctor recommended some ankle motion exercises, but I've noticed swelling in my foot. Is this normal after cast removal? What can I do to help reduce the swelling?

Yes, swelling in your foot after cast removal is a common occurrence, especially after an Achilles tendon repair surgery, and it's normal to experience some stiffness and swelling after a cast is removed. The stiffness is likely due to inactivity during the cast period, and the swelling is from the release of pressure on the tissues. To help reduce the swelling, focus on elevation, ice, and consider compression socks, as well as following your doctor's recommendations for exercises and medication.

i have mucoid degeneration and mild swelling with almost no pain but i've been playing football and basketball the last two weeks could continuing sports cause a complete acl tear and how long is recovery after surgery for this condition

I recommend starting with physiotherapy and painkillers to manage your condition. If there's no significant improvement after a reasonable period, we can then consider surgical options.
