I'm a bit worried because my chest X-ray, ultrasound, HIV, thyroid, and other blood tests all came back fine, but my Mantoux test showed a positive result with a size of around 16 mm. I'm not sure if this means I need to start TB treatment. Also, my body temperature usually stays between 98 to 98.8 degrees. Should I be getting any other tests done? Could you give me some advice on this?

View allI've been really worried about my dad's heavy cough. It's been going on for a while, and whoever sleeps in the same room as him can't get a good night's sleep. We've seen so many doctors, and he's tried all sorts of medicines. Some think it's bronchitis or asthma, while others have just prescribed general cough medicine. Despite trying everything, including rotahealermedicines, nothing seems to work. Could you please suggest what might be wrong or recommend something that could finally help with his cough?
Based on the information provided, it seems like your father's cough is persistent and impacting his quality of life. Since he has already tried various medications without much improvement, I would recommend trying a combination of Montelukast (brand name Singulair) 10mg once daily in the evening and FluticasoneSalmeterol (brand name Advair) inhaler 25050mcg two puffs twice daily. These medications can help manage symptoms of asthma-related cough and provide relief. Additionally, steam inhalation and staying hydrated can also help alleviate cough symptoms. It's important to follow up with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.

How can I check my lungs at home?
At home, you may check your lungs functioning with an instrument named "Peak Flow meter". It is a small hand held device, when you blow air into it, it calculates the lung capacity and expansion. Spirometer is another instrument which helps in similar way in lung assessment and additionally it also has therapeutic usage. You may check oxygenation level by "Pulse Oximeter" which gives indirect clue on lung damage but keep in mind there are other medical conditions which may affect pulse oximeter readings.

I've got an oximeter at home because my grandma uses oxygen therapy, and I've noticed something about my grandpa's oxygen levels. When he's lying down or asleep, his oxygen level is usually around 92-95, mostly hovering between 93 and 94, but when he's sitting up, it goes up to 97 or 98. Is this something normal, or should I be worried? He's 70, and he doesn't have any breathing problems.
If oxygen saturation drops below 92.. oxygen is advised to the patient.Tab augmentin duo 625mg ,orally ,thrice daily for 5 days advised to the patient. Also syrup salbutamol 10ml thrice daily for 7 days is advised to the patient.Steam inhalation is also advised twice
