I'm currently on ATT DOTS treatment and it's been about 3 months now. Earlier today, I got a rusty cut on my wrist and I'm really considering getting a Tetanus shot. I'm just not sure if it's safe to take the Tetanus injection while I'm on these ATT meds. I did have a Tetanus shot last year. What do you think?

  1. Tetanus Injection Safety: Receiving a tetanus toxoid vaccine (TETANUS TOXOID-5LF) while on ATT is generally safe. There are no known harmful interactions between the vaccine and ATT medications.

  2. Recent Tetanus Shot: Since you had a tetanus shot last year, your immunity might still be adequate. However, a booster is often recommended after a rusty cut to prevent infection.

  3. Wound Care: Ensure the cut is properly cleaned to reduce the risk of infection.

  4. Consult Your Doctor: Inform your healthcare provider about your ATT treatment before getting the tetanus shot. They can confirm the best timing and monitor you appropriately.

In summary, getting a tetanus booster while on ATT is usually safe, but discussing it with your doctor ensures personalized care and peace of mind.

I'm a 21-year-old guy and had unprotected oral sex with a girl, but I don't know her HIV status. I also ejaculated in her mouth. I've taken the HIV Tridot test three times once after 30 days, then after 45 days, and again after 74 days. All the results were negative. How reliable are these tests, and could they turn positive later on? What's the window period for the HIV Tridot test? I'm pretty anxious about this and would like to understand more.

The HIV Tridot test is highly accurate after 74 days, as the window period for most HIV tests is 2-12 weeks. Since your results are consistently negative, the chance of turning positive later is extremely low. For complete peace of mind, a confirmatory test at 90 days (like a 4th-generation test) is advisable.

I'm a bit worried because I've been bitten by a dog, and I'm not certain if the dog has been immunized. Should I consult a particular type of doctor in this situation? And is it possible to check if the dog is vaccinated for rabies before I need to get any shots myself?

you: *Immediate Steps* 1. *Wash the wound*: Immediately wash the bite area with soap and water. 2. *Apply antibiotic ointment*: Apply an antibiotic ointment to the affected area. 3. *Seek medical attention*: Visit a doctor as soon as possible. *Consulting a Doctor* 1. *Primary Care Physician (PCP)*: You can start by consulting your PCP, who will assess the wound and provide guidance on further treatment. 2. *Emergency Room (ER) Doctor*: If the bite is severe or you're experiencing symptoms like fever, chills, or swelling, visit the ER. 3. *Infectious Disease Specialist*: In some cases, your doctor may refer you to an infectious disease specialist for further evaluation and treatment. *Rabies Vaccination* 1. *Assessing the dog's vaccination status*: If possible, try to determine the dog's vaccination status. If the dog is up-to-date on its rabies vaccination, the risk of transmission is lower. 2. *Getting the dog checked*: If the dog's vaccination status is unknown, it's recommended to have the dog observed for 10 days. If the dog remains healthy during this period, the risk of rabies transmission is low. 3. *Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)*: If the dog's vaccination status is unknown or the dog is not available for observation, your doctor may recommend PEP, which includes immediate vaccination against rabies and administration of rabies immunoglobulin.
