I'm currently on ATT DOTS treatment and it's been about 3 months now. Earlier today, I got a rusty cut on my wrist and I'm really considering getting a Tetanus shot. I'm just not sure if it's safe to take the Tetanus injection while I'm on these ATT meds. I did have a Tetanus shot last year. What do you think?

Tetanus Injection Safety: Receiving a tetanus toxoid vaccine (TETANUS TOXOID-5LF) while on ATT is generally safe. There are no known harmful interactions between the vaccine and ATT medications.
-
Recent Tetanus Shot: Since you had a tetanus shot last year, your immunity might still be adequate. However, a booster is often recommended after a rusty cut to prevent infection.
-
Wound Care: Ensure the cut is properly cleaned to reduce the risk of infection.
-
Consult Your Doctor: Inform your healthcare provider about your ATT treatment before getting the tetanus shot. They can confirm the best timing and monitor you appropriately.
In summary, getting a tetanus booster while on ATT is usually safe, but discussing it with your doctor ensures personalized care and peace of mind.

View allHey, I just had a weird experience where a mouse bit my finger. There wasn't any visible cut or bleeding, but it felt like it pinched. There's a small bump now and I'm not sure if it's related to the bite. I washed it thoroughly with Lifebuoy soap for a couple of minutes, used Dettol, and even applied extra Dettol on the spot. I got an anti-tetanus shot last year and a rabies booster just a couple of months ago, so I'm curious if I'm still at risk for anything like Hantavirus since there wasn't a clear break in the skin. Just wondering if there's anything else I should do. What are your thoughts?
Since there was no visible break in the skin or bleeding, the risk of infection (including rabies and hantavirus) is significantly lower, You're well-protected with your recent anti-rabies and tetanus shots. No additional doses are necessary unless advised by a healthcare provider. if area becomes red or swollen or painfull then consult a doctor

Is there any chance you could get HIV from oral sex? And what about if you have sex using a condomdoes that completely prevent HIV, or is there still some risk involved? I'm kinda worried and would love some clarity on this.

I had an encounter with a prostitute a day ago and during sex, my condom tore. I'm really worried about possibly getting HIV. How soon should I go for a test?
After a potential HIV exposure, like a torn condom during sex, it's essential to act quickly; consider taking Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) within 72 hours to reduce the risk of HIV infection; for testing, the window period varies: 14-24 days for a nucleic acid test (NAT), 18-45 days for an antigenantibody test, and 45-90 days for an antibody test; consult a healthcare provider or visit an STI clinic for guidance, testing, and potential PEP treatment.
