I'm currently taking valprol CR300 twice a day and I'm 59 years old, weighing about 70kgs. I just got my blood tests back and my triglyceride levels are at 260. I'm wondering if this could be because of the medication? What other side effects should I be aware of? Is it safe for me to stop taking this medicine? I've had two epilepsy attacks, one in August 2014 and another in March 2015. Any advice would be appreciated.

Congratulations on taking the first step towards your weight loss journey!

Ideal Weight for Your Height: For a 5'2" (157 cm) person, a healthy weight range is:

  • For women: 49-58 kg (108-128 lbs)
  • For men: 54-63 kg (119-139 lbs)

Weight Loss Goal: Aiming to lose 10 kg is achievable. Here's a suggested plan:

  1. Caloric deficit: Reduce daily caloric intake by 500-750 calories to promote weight loss.
  2. Diet: Focus on whole, unprocessed foods like vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Avoid sugary drinks, fast food, and processed snacks.
  3. Physical activity: Aim for 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise (brisk walking, cycling, swimming) or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise (running, HIIT) per week.
  4. Portion control: Eat smaller, frequent meals to boost metabolism and control hunger.
  5. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  6. Sleep: Ensure 7-8 hours of sleep per night to support weight regulation.
  7. Consult a doctor or a registered dietitian: Get personalized guidance and support to help you achieve your weight loss goal.

Remember, losing weight too quickly is not healthy. Aim for a sustainable weight loss of 0.5-1 kg per week.

I banged my head pretty hard on the garage door when it was going up last night. I didnt pass out, there's no blood, and I haven't thrown up or anything, but there's this burning sensation and a slight headache going on. The ER doc said it's not a concussion, but I'm kind of worried. How would I know if there's any internal bleeding? And also, should I consider pausing my birth control pills while I'm figuring this out?

Monitoring for Internal Bleeding_ 1. *Watch for worsening headache*: If your headache worsens or becomes severe, seek immediate medical attention. 2. *Look for other symptoms*: Monitor for symptoms like: - Dizziness or loss of balance - Nausea or vomiting - Blurred vision or sensitivity to light - Confusion or disorientation - Weakness or numbness in arms or legs 3. *Seek immediate medical attention if you experience*: - Sudden severe headache - Difficulty speaking or swallowing - Weakness or paralysis in face, arm, or leg - Vision changes or double vision _Birth Control Pills_ As a precautionary measure, consider stopping your birth control pills temporarily until you're cleared by your doctor. Birth control pills can increase the risk of blood clots, which may be a concern if you have internal bleeding. _Follow-up_ Schedule a follow-up appointment with your primary care physician or a neurologist within the next 24-48 hours to reassess your symptoms and determine the best course of action.

I'm looking at my MRI results and I'm seeing terms like calcified granuloma in the right parietal lobe and mild diffuse cerebral atrophy. Can you help me understand what these really mean? Is there something I should be worried about?
