I'm dealing with pattern baldness and have been using minoxidil 5% for about two years now. It seemed to help at first, but lately, it doesn't seem to be as effective. Could there be a reason why it's not working anymore? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Minoxidil 5% is a common treatment for pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia). While it can be effective, its effectiveness may decrease over time.Receptor downregulation: Minoxidil works by binding to specific receptors. Prolonged use may lead to a decrease in receptor density, reducing the medication's effectiveness.Other factors: Poor scalp health, inadequate application, or concurrent medical conditions may also contribute to decreased effectiveness. Options to consider:
- Consult a dermatologist: Discuss your concerns and explore alternative treatments, such as finasteride (oral medication), low-level laser therapy (LLLT), or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy.
- Combination therapy: Using minoxidil in combination with other treatments, such as finasteride or LLLT, may help maintain or enhance its effectiveness.
- Scalp care: Maintain good scalp hygiene, and consider using scalp serums or shampoos that promote hair growth.
- Realistic expectations: Understand that minoxidil is not a cure for pattern baldness, and its effectiveness may vary.

View allI'm 21 and my hair's been getting really thin lately. It's to the point where, if I put oil on, it looks kinda like I'm balding, but without oil, it seems more or less normal. My family's hair history doesn't include baldness, so I'm confused. Could it be a lack of protein, moisture, or is DHT the culprit here? I really want to get my hair thick again. Also, I was wearing a helmet a lot recently, and I think that made my hair dry and rough, turning it somewhat brown. I tried oiling it, and it's a bit silkier now, but still thin. Why is this happening, and how can I make my hair thick again?

I've been struggling with a dry scalp and it's leading to dandruff all the time. Could you recommend a good shampoo for this?

I've been dealing with this skin issue in my genital area for the past two weeks. There are these red rings that are super irritating and burn a lot. Ive tried using creams like ringguard and beetex, but they didnt help. Any idea what I can do about it? It's starting to really worry me.
It sounds like you may be experiencing a fungal infection, such as a ringworm. I recommend trying an antifungal cream like Clotrimazole (brand name Lotrimin) twice a day for at least 2 weeks. Additionally, you can take an oral antifungal medication like Fluconazole (brand name Diflucan) as prescribed by your doctor. Make sure to keep the affected area clean and dry, and avoid wearing tight clothing. If your symptoms persist, it's important to follow up with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
