I'm feeling a bit worried because I've been experiencing some discomfort in my left testicle. There's been no recent injury or anything like that, but it still hurts even with just a light touch. Should I be concerned about this?

Swollen Foreskin: Causes and Remedies

Common causes:

  1. Irritation or allergic reactions
  2. Infections (bacterial, fungal, or viral)
  3. Injury or trauma
  4. Poor hygiene
  5. Tight clothing

Remedy and treatment:

  1. Apply warm compresses: Soak a clean cloth in warm water, wring it out, and apply it to the affected area for 10-15 minutes, 3-4 times a day.
  2. Maintain good hygiene: Gently clean the area with mild soap and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh or abrasive cleansers.
  3. Avoid irritants: Refrain from using scented soaps, lotions, or other products that may exacerbate the swelling.
  4. Wear loose, breathable clothing: Tight clothing can irritate the skin and worsen swelling.
  5. Over-the-counter pain relief: Consider taking over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen to reduce discomfort and inflammation.

When to seek medical attention:

  1. Severe swelling or pain
  2. Pus or discharge
  3. Fever
  4. Difficulty urinating
  5. No improvement after 3-4 days of self-care

I recently realized I have an undescended right testicle I can feel it just above the penis on that side. Is it still possible to descend the testicle at my age? If surgery is an option, how do I bring this up with my parents? Also, will having one testicle affect my sperm count or sexual health in the long run? Can I still have a normal sex life with just one?

Yes, surgery (orchiopexy) may still be an option depending on your age and the position of the testicle—consult a urologist for evaluation. It’s best to discuss this openly with your parents as it’s a common condition. Having one healthy testicle is usually enough for normal sperm production and sexual function. Most men with one testicle lead a completely normal sex life and can father children.
