I'm really struggling with this issue, it's been going on for about a year and a half now. I've seen doctors, but nothing seems to be helping. It always feels like there's something stuck in my throat, almost like someone is tapping on it from the outside. There's also this mild pain in my ears. Sometimes it feels better, but other times the sensation is really strong. What could be causing this and what should I do next?

View allI've had this headache and really sore throat for the past day, and now I'm feeling a bit nauseous too. I checked my throat out and my tonsils look normal, but I noticed I've got these three lumps in a triangle shape behind my uvula. Any idea what this could be? I'm thinking it might be the start of a cold, but I'm not sure how that's connected to the lumps.
The triangular formation of lumps behind your uvula, accompanied by headache, sore throat, and nausea, could be indicative of swollen lymphoid tissue ; however, it's essential to consult a such as an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist or a primary care physician, for a thorough examination and diagnosis, as the lumps may also be related to other conditions, such as tonsillar pillars or a viral pharyngitis.

I think I have a small soft palate and it's affecting my speech. A speech therapist recommended surgery, but I'm not sure if that's the only option. Could a small soft palate really cause speech issues and what are the alternatives to surgery?
Yes, a small soft palate, or velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI), can indeed cause speech problems, particularly nasal sounding speech. While surgery is often recommended for VPI, it's not the only option, and other therapies can be effective. Speech therapy, prosthetic devices, and even biofeedback can help improve speech in many cases

Im really worried because I seem to have lost my sense of smell completely. It's like I can't detect any scents at all and it feels like 100% of my smelling power is just gone. Could you please guide me on what treatment options are available for this?
Loss of smell, also known as anosmia, can have various causes such as sinus infections, nasal polyps, allergies, or even neurological conditions. One common treatment option for restoring smell is using nasal steroid sprays. You can try using Flonase (fluticasone) nasal spray, 2 sprays in each nostril once daily. Additionally, using a saline nasal spray like Ocean Spray can help with nasal congestion and improve smell sensation. It is important to consult with a doctor for a proper evaluation and diagnosis.
