I'm really worried because I've had a cough for over a week now, and there's a lot of pain in my chest. Can you tell me what's going on or what I should do?

View allI'm having trouble taking deep breaths lately. Sometimes I can manage it, but I mostly end up breathing through my mouth. This has been going on for about three weeks. I used to have other issues like stiffness in my fingers in the morning and pain in my right shoulder and upper arm, but those have either gone away or are getting better. I had a blood test back in January that showed high ESR and low platelets, but I feel okay now except for the deep breathing issue. What could be causing this?
do spirometry

I'm really worried about my dad. He's 76 and has been dealing with COPD for 7 years. Just recently, he had a secondary infection causing respiratory failure type 2. At the moment, he's on 0.5 O2 to keep his oxygen level at 94. His latest abc report shows pco2 at 40 and po2 at 66. Besides COPD, he only has thyroid issues. I'm concerned about his life expectancy after this episode. Can you give me an idea if he might have 6 months, 1 year, or even 5 years left?
Pulmonologist opinion is advised to the patient.

I've been dealing with a cough for over two weeks now. I had a similar issue with a chronic cough that lasted about two months before but improved until almost two years went by. This time, I don't have any other problems like headaches, body aches, or weaknessjust the coughing. I just got my sputum test results and they show gram-positive bacilli and gram-positive cocci in pairs and chains, with occasional pus cells. What's the best way to handle this? How worried should I be?
you need to take antibiotic course for the above sputum report
