Is It Possible for Type 2 diabetes to Turn into Type 1?
It is not possible for type 2 diabetes to turn into type 1 diabetes. However, a person who originally receives a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes may still get a separate diagnosis of type 1 at a later date. Type 2 diabetes is the most common type, so a doctor might initially suspect that an adult with diabetes has type 2.
Diabetes when uncontrolled can cause sudden increase in blood sugar level causing an emergency called Diabetic ketoacidosis which can be life threatening if not treated in time. Also, long standing Diabetes may lead to organ damage which can be fatal.
Creatinine level of 1.7 is significant of mild elevation from normal range, but it alone does not dictate severity of kidney disease in Diabetic patients.
With time, raised blood sugar levels can damage the blood vessels and nerves that control the heart. Additionally, people with diabetes are also more likely to have other conditions that raise the risk for heart disease/ stroke such as high blood pressure and deranged cholesterol or triglyceride levels.
Diagnosed when fasting blood sugar of 126 mg/dl or more, post prandial blood sugar of 200 or more with glycated hemoglobin of 6.5% or more.Treatment is either tablets or insulin to control blood sugar levels along with life style modifications (Diet + exercise).
