I've been having this light pinch in my stomach lately. It's not really severe or uncomfortable, and my motions seem normal. I don't drink or smoke, so I'm wondering what kind of medication or tests I might need to consider? Any advice would be appreciated!

The symptoms you're experiencing, such as severe pain during bowel movements, persistent pain, and itching around the rectum, suggest that you might be dealing with:

Possible Causes

  1. Anal fissure: A small tear in the lining of the anus, causing pain and itching.
  2. Hemorrhoids: Swollen veins in the rectum or anus, leading to pain, itching, and discomfort.
  3. Proctitis: Inflammation of the rectum, causing pain, itching, and discomfort.

Remedies and Treatments

  1. Increase fiber intake: Eat foods rich in fiber, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, to soften stool and reduce straining.
  2. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help soften stool and reduce constipation.
  3. Warm sitz baths: Soak in a warm bath for 10-15 minutes, 2-3 times a day, to help relax the anal muscles and reduce pain.
  4. Topical creams or ointments: Apply creams or ointments containing hydrocortisone, lidocaine, or witch hazel to help reduce pain, itching, and inflammation.
  5. Consult a doctor: Schedule an appointment with your doctor or a gastroenterologist to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms and receive personalized guidance.

When to Seek Immediate Attention

  1. Severe pain: If your pain is unbearable or worsens over time.
  2. Bleeding: If you notice blood in your stool or black tarry stools.
  3. Fever: If you have a fever above 101.5F (38.6C).
  4. Difficulty controlling bowel movements: If you experience involuntary bowel movements or difficulty controlling stool.

I've been dealing with really bad breath for a while now and just don't know what to do. My dentist checked and said there's nothing wrong with my mouth, but the bad breath is still there even after I brush. I brush three times a day, use mouthwash, and everything, but the smell just doesn't go away. It's super embarrassing when people keep their distance or cover their noses. Even when I'm a few meters away, they cover their mouths. It makes me feel so left out and embarrassed. Can you help me figure out what might be causing this?

It sounds like you may be experiencing chronic bad breath, also known as halitosis. In cases where oral hygiene practices are not resolving the issue, it's important to consider other factors that could be causing the bad breath. One common cause of persistent bad breath is gastrointestinal issues such as acid reflux or gastritis. I recommend trying over-the-counter medication like Omeprazole (Prilosec) 20mg once daily before breakfast for 2 weeks to see if it helps improve your symptoms. Additionally, you can try using a tongue scraper to clean your tongue, as bacteria on the tongue can contribute to bad breath. If the bad breath persists despite these measures, it would be advisable to consult with a gastroenterologist for further evaluation and management.

I've been noticing my stomach has this pulsating sensation, especially when I'm sitting or sleeping upright. I've been dealing with IBS and gas, but the pulsating started around 8 months ago and it's got me a bit anxious. It even feels more intense when I start to think about it. It almost feels like a heartbeat. Should I be worried about this?

Pulsation of stomach is not related to IBS. Pulsation can be normally seen in thin build person where you will feel the pulsation at the exact time as the heart beat(there actually exist few microsecond difference but cannot appreciate) Different disease wherein we see the pulsation in stomach are Abdominal Aorta Aneurysm(AAA), vascular malformation, Thyroid disorders and many more for which you will need to do certain investigations.

I'm a bit concerned about my liver test results. My SGPT is showing 73, but my SGOT is within the normal range. The SGOTSGPT ratio is 0.47. Should I be worried about this? Everything else seems normal in my tests, but I'm not sure if these liver enzyme levels are problematic. Can you help me understand if this is something to be concerned about?

Get a prescription for oral antifungal medications like fluconazole or itraconazole. Consider using a combination of topical and oral antifungal medications. Maintain good hygiene, wear loose clothing, and avoid sharing personal items. Apply a topical cream like clotrimazole or miconazole, as prescribed by your doctor. Seek immediate medical attention if the infection worsens or spreads further.
