I've been waking up with a dry and sore soft palate every morning for over a year now, especially on colder days. It also tends to get sore and dries out when I'm breathing through my nose without swallowing during the day. I notice I feel a bit feverish when it gets dry and sore, although that fades after I swallow. I've been using Nasivin nasal drops for over a year, which is when these issues began. Could there be a connection? What might be causing this, and what should I do about it?

Is this a silly question? I'm just curious because I know we have two main pipes in our throat, you know, the windpipe and the food pipe. So is the windpipe on the right side or the left side? And what about the food pipe, is it on the left or right? Sorry if this sounds dumb, just really curious!

The windpipe, also known as the trachea, is located in the midline of the neck and chest, so it is not on the right or left side specifically. The food pipe, or esophagus, is also located in the midline of the body, behind the windpipe. So neither the windpipe nor the food pipe is specifically on the right or left side of the body.

I'm experiencing pain on the right side of my jaw near my ear, and I already went to see a dentist. He told me theres nothing wrong with my teeth, but the pain hasn't gone away. I'm a bit worried about what might be causing this discomfort. Could it be something other than a dental issue? What should I do next?

The pain you are experiencing near your ear and jaw could be due to temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ). You can try taking over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen (Advil) 400mg every 4-6 hours as needed for pain relief. Additionally, applying a warm compress to the area and doing gentle jaw exercises may help alleviate the discomfort. If the pain persists, you may need to see a specialist for further evaluation and management.
