View allI had earwax removed and now I'm hearing sounds in my ear. One doctor mentioned there's a hole in my middle ear and suggested surgery, while another advised waiting 3 months to see if it heals naturally and recommended daily steam. Can a hole in the ear heal on its own, and what are the chances of natural recovery?

I was on a flight about three weeks ago and had a cold at the time. During the descent, I felt intense pressure in my right ear and it started hurting a lot. I took painkillers for a couple of days and, thankfully, the pain went away, but the pressure hasn't gotten back to normal since. I've tried blowing out or sucking in after pinching my nose, but nothing seems to work. I'm really worried about it. Could you offer some advice on what I should do next?
