I've noticed that my uvula seems to have gotten longer recently. Could smoking be causing this? What steps should I take to get it back to normal?

View allI've had this throat infection for a few days now, and it's just not going away. It started with pain and soreness, and I took oflox200 for three days, which helped at first. But then, only a few days later, the symptoms came back even worse. This time, I've been on Azithromycin 250 mg, Ofloxacin, Ornidazole, and Levocetirizine for three days, but the pain is still there. I did feel a little better on the first day, but the soreness and pain are back, especially when I swallow. Theres only one day of this course left, and I'm worried because theres no real improvement. Can you suggest another antibiotic that might actually work for me?
Krishna, considering your persistent throat infection symptoms despite completing two antibiotic courses, it's essential to revisit your diagnosis and treatment plan; consult an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist to rule out other underlying conditions, such as tonsillitis, strep throat, or a viral infection; they may prescribe alternative antibiotics like Amoxicillin-Clavulanate, Clindamycin, or Cefpodoxime, or order further tests like a throat culture or rapid strep test to guide treatment; in addition, maintain good hydration, gargle with salt water, and use throat lozenges to help soothe your throat

Had FESS surgery 10 days ago to remove tissues in sinuses and around the eye. Now experiencing nasal congestion, slight swelling above and below the eye but no pain or eyelid involvement, good eye movement and light sensitivity. Also have a cough and pain above the eye when touched. Could these symptoms be related to the surgery?
Yes, it's likely that your symptoms are related to the FESS surgery, specifically due to the inflammation and healing process. The nasal congestion, swelling, and pain are common after FESS. A cough could also be a result of the surgery, as the sinuses and nasal passages are closely connected to the upper respiratory tract. The pain when touched around the eye could be related to the close proximity of the surgical area to the orbit.

I'm dealing with nasal polyps and it's been a struggle, especially over the last two years. The right side of my nose has it the worst, and I've noticed that drinking hot beverages seems to make it worse. I'm really not keen on having surgery right now. I've been using Otrivin nasal spray, which helps a bit, but it's just a temporary fix. Could you recommend a permanent solution for this issue?
