Just had a mastectomy for HER2 positive breast cancer and wondering when chemo should start is there a specific window like within 30 days or can it vary depending on recovery

My mother-in-law was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer but she doesn't have serious symptoms right now and seems healthy. How much time does she likely have left and what treatments should we consider? Some doctors say surgery isn't useful at this stage but chemotherapy might help what's your opinion on this?
