My dad is 60 and might need cataract surgery but he's otherwise healthy. What type of lens would work best for him?

How can I fix my eyesight without needing glasses? I really don't want to wear spectacles anymore. My eyes start hurting when I don't use them regularly. Are there any eye drops, medicines, or other natural ways to slowly reduce my power over time? I'm okay if it takes a year or longer I just want to avoid surgery and eventually stop wearing glasses.
