My dad has had a herniated disc in his lower back for about 20 years after falling down the stairs in an accident. He's been dealing with leg and hand pain because of it. We're wondering if surgery is the best option at this point or if he can manage without it. What would you recommend?

For a herniated disc of 20 years with leg and hand pain, non-surgical management is usually the first approach, especially if the symptoms have been stable or improving. Surgery is considered if conservative treatments fail to relieve pain, nerve damage worsens, or there's significant loss of function

My wife's MRI report shows a large acoustic neuroma with hydrocephalus measuring 434238mm. Can you help me understand what stage this tumor is at based on these findings? Also, if we decide against surgery, what would her survival rate look like and how much time does she likely have left?

I've had a long duro stent for 9 months after surgery, but now doctors say I have stenosis and need open surgery. Is this the only option or are there less invasive alternatives? I'm worried about another major procedure.
If you have urethral stenosis after 9 months with a stent, open urethroplasty is often the definitive option. Less invasive techniques may be available depending on the site and severity, but they’re not always successful long-term.
