Apply a thick layer (like toothpaste) on the area where the blood will be drawn (usually the front of the elbow) about 45 to 60 minutes before the test. Cover it with plastic wrap or a waterproof dressing to enhance absorption. Remove the cream just before the blood draw and clean the area. Let the lab staff know you have applied the cream for smooth handling during the test.
