My friend has been having throat pain either in the early morning or at bedtime for about six months now. Just recently, there's been a bad smell coming from her mouth for the past two days. Why might she be experiencing these symptoms, and what could be causing this odor? Are they related to each other somehow?

For tonsil stones, consider:

Non-Surgical Options

  1. Gargling: Continue gargling with warm salt water or Betadine solution.
  2. Waterpik: Use a waterpik to flush out debris and stones.
  3. Tonsil stone removal kits: Available online or at pharmacies.
  4. Antibacterial mouthwash: Use a mouthwash containing chlorhexidine.

Medical Consultation

  1. ENT Specialist: Consult an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist for a thorough examination.
  2. Rule out Chronic Tonsillitis: The ENT specialist can diagnose chronic tonsillitis and recommend treatment.

Additional Tips

  1. Maintain good oral hygiene: Brush and floss regularly.
  2. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your throat moist.
  3. Avoid smoking and tobacco: These can exacerbate the problem.

Consult an ENT specialist to determine the best course of treatment for your tonsil stones and dry throat.

I've been having this on-and-off pain in my right side submandibular gland for some time now, the weird thing is the swelling just won't go away. It's been like this for 2 years! And lately, for about a month, there's this persistent pain at the base of my neck where the skull ends and also inside my head, all on the right side. I'm struggling to find a doctor who can help; two of them suggested removing the gland, but it still produces saliva. I'm really hoping there's another solution that doesn't involve surgery. Is there anything else I could try?

It sounds like you may be experiencing chronic inflammation and pain in your submandibular gland on the right side, along with swelling that has been present for 2 years. The recent development of pain in the back of your neck, at the base of your skull, and inside your head on the right side is concerning. Given the persistent swelling and pain, it is important to address this issue promptly. I recommend seeking a consultation with an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist for further evaluation and management. They may consider a thorough examination, imaging studies, and possibly a biopsy to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms. In the meantime, you can try taking over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen to help alleviate the discomfort. Additionally, warm compresses applied to the affected area may provide some relief. As for medication, you can try a course of antibiotics such as Amoxicillin-Clavulanate to address any possible infection in the gland. However, please note that this is a general recommendation and should be confirmed by a healthcare professional after a proper evaluation. I hope you find the relief you are seeking and that your symptoms improve soon.

I'm trying to understand how to use Tufpro suspension. Is it meant to be swallowed like a regular medication, or is it supposed to be used just for rinsing the mouth and then spit out? I'm a bit confused about how to take it properly.

Tufpro Suspension is typically an oral medication that is meant to be swallowed. It is not intended for gargling and spitting out.

I've put 3 to 4 drops of ear drops in my left ear last night around 10, and now it's totally blocked. I'm having trouble hearing properly. What's going on? Should I go see the nearest hospital for this?

you might have wax in the ear which swelled up after putting ear drops.. visit an ENT specialist for assessment and wax removal if required..
