My tooth is totally broken and might need to be pulled will I have to get gum surgery for that? What's usually involved in the extraction process? I'm a little worried about how complicated it might be.

I got my wisdom teeth out five days ago and couldn't keep down the pain medication because it made me sick the first day. Now there's a big hard lump in my cheek that hasn't gone away. I've been icing it and taking the amoxicillin like I was told to prevent infection, but there's still this awful taste in my mouth and the pain is just too much. I saw the oral surgeon yesterday, but all they did was open my mouth and send me home, telling me to rest. What should I do now?

While some swelling and discomfort are normal after wisdom tooth removal, the pain and ongoing symptoms you're describing need to be addressed. Since you're already on antibiotics and have been to the surgeon, it may be helpful to follow up soon for a more thorough check, especially if you think the pain and lump are related to an infection or dry socket. Dont hesitate to let your surgeon know if the pain persists or if new symptoms develop.
