My uncle has been in the hospital for 10 days with a comminuted displaced fracture of his right acetabulum that also extends into the superior pubic ramus. The scan report suggests surgery but we're unsure is surgery the only option or are there other ways to treat this? He's been on bed rest so far and we're worried about the best next steps. Could you give a second opinion on whether surgery is necessary or if there are alternatives?

Persistent fistula with pus usually needs surgery; medications can control symptoms but won’t close the tract—consult a colorectal surgeon for best outcome.

View allMy knee cap has gotten really thin and I'm on medication right now but I'm worried about surgery since I heard replacements only last around 10 years - is it worth going through with it or should I try other options first
hope you are not in a lot of pain. What do you mean by saying that your knee cap is thin ? Do you mean that the cartilage is worn out ? You might have chondromalacia patella. Please consult an Orthopaedic surgeon

Can homeopathy help heal a meniscus tear and knee swelling without needing surgery What other non-surgical options might work for this
Homeopathy may relieve symptoms of a meniscus tear, but healing large tears often requires surgery. Physiotherapy is also beneficial.

My shoulder keeps dislocating over and over and I'm not sure what to do about it. Should I consider surgery or are there other treatments that might help stop this from happening? It's getting really frustrating and painful.
If your shoulder keeps dislocating, you should consult with a doctor or orthopedic surgeon to discuss treatment options, which may include surgery. Non-surgical treatments, such as physical therapy and immobilization, are often tried first, but surgery may be necessary for recurrent dislocations or if the soft tissues stabilizing the shoulder are severely damaged
