View allMy 65-year-old mom has a cold with yellow mucus when she coughs. Is it safe for her to get eye surgery right now or should we wait?
It's generally recommended to postpone non-urgent surgery, like eye surgery, when a patient has a cold, especially with yellow mucus, due to the risk of complications and potential for the surgery to be affected by an infection. Yellow mucus indicates an infection, which can make surgery more risky.

my cornea size is 485 in one eye and 490 in the other with myopia of 6.25 and 6.50 would epi lasik surgery work for me
Epi-LASIK surgery might be an option for you, but it depends on a comprehensive eye exam, including corneal topography and pachymetry, to assess your suitability. While a corneal thickness of 485 µm is at the lower end of the acceptable range for LASIK, it's not necessarily a contraindication, especially if other factors like corneal shape are favorable. However, with myopia of 6.25 and 6.50, the amount of tissue that would need to be removed during the procedure will be a significant factor in determining if Epi-LASIK is a safe option.
