Why do doctors advise the HBA1C test every three months?
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
Doctors advise HbA1C tests for people who have diabetes every three months to evaluate if a person has good control or bad control of blood sugar levels over a period of 90 days.

View allI am a 47 year old diabetic with neuropathy. My last clinical test showed an HbA1c of 5.9 percent and creatinine of 0.9 mg/dL. At that time, I was taking Metformin 500 mg twice daily, Novomix 30 (18 units before breakfast and 12 units before dinner), and Lantus 20 units at bedtime. Later, my doctor advised Novomix 30 (18 units before breakfast, 12 units before dinner), Lantus 18 units at bedtime, and Transpire M30 after breakfast. My recent report shows that my HbA1c has risen to 7.5 percent, creatinine to 1 mg/dL, and fasting sugar from 84 to 144 mg/dL. I would like advice on whether I should continue the doctor latest prescription or switch back to my previous regimen.

Sir, I recently had a fasting glucose test, which showed 103 mg/dL, and an HbA1c test, which showed 12.52 percent. Is it possible for these results to be correct together, or is there a mismatch?
