Hello doctor, I had spotting, thread-like, once a day on 7, 8, and 9 DPO, then it stopped. Again, from 13 DPO, I am having brown discharge. Today, on 15 DPO, I am having a little more discharge. I am also suffering from mild to moderate back pain since 4 DPO and today I had light cramps on and off. My period is late by 4 days. I took a pregnancy test at 12 DPO but it was negative. What may be the reason for these symptoms and on and off spotting?

Spotting around your period date can happen due to hormonal fluctuations or delayed periods. Mild cramps and back pain can occur before periods or in early pregnancy. A negative test at 12 dpo may be early; repeat a urine pregnancy test now or after 2 days. If the test is negative again and spotting continues, consult your doctor to check for hormonal imbalance. You can book a Serum Beta hCG test for a more accurate pregnancy confirmation.

Hello, recently we got to know that my wife is pregnant and we went to a gynaecologist recommended by my close friends. The doctor told us to do a few blood tests for pregnancy confirmation. After the results of the report, we got to know that she is 100 percent pregnant. Also, she is found with a little bit high blood pressure. She suggested folic acid capsules, sachets of AGS 90 for BP control, and progesterone. So we asked why she suggested progesterone drug in early pregnancy but the answer was not satisfactory, and we have read many myths about progesterone. Now we are confused whether it is safe to take progesterone? And why did she recommend this drug to my wife?
